PTSD Treatment

Reclaim Your Life After Trauma

Unwanted memories, nightmares, and flashbacks can make it feel like you're stuck in the past, reliving the worst moments on repeat. Maybe you avoid certain places or people because they bring it all rushing back. Maybe you’re always on edge, your sleep’s a mess, or you just don’t feel like yourself anymore.

That doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means your mind and body are trying to make sense of something that hit too hard, too fast.

You’re not alone.

These symptoms are common among first responders, healthcare workers, military veterans, and anyone who's faced overwhelming stress. The good news? With the right support, things can change—often faster than expected.

At Genovese Trauma & PTSD Recovery, I offer direct, effective treatment grounded in clinical expertise. With over 15 years of specialized experience in trauma recovery, I use proven approaches like EMDR, CPT, and Prolonged Exposure. My approach is straightforward, compassionate, and focused on helping you regain control of your life, on your terms.

You don’t have to keep living in survival mode. Recovery is possible.

Evidence-Based PTSD Treatments

Before beginning PTSD treatment, I take the time to develop a personalized treatment plan based on your unique needs and goals. This collaborative approach ensures the best possible long-term outcomes. At Genovese Trauma & PTSD Recovery, I draw from a range of evidence-based trauma therapies and carefully select the methods best suited to support your recovery.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR therapy is a proven, evidence-based approach that helps your brain reprocess traumatic memories so they no longer feel as intense or disruptive. During your EMDR sessions, we’ll work together to:

  • Identify the disturbing memory and its emotional impact.
  • Use bilateral stimulation (eye movements or tapping) to reprocess.
  • Revisit and reframe events to reduce emotional charge.
  • Strengthen positive beliefs to feel safer, confident, and in control.

EMDR treatment typically spans 8-12 sessions (50 - 80 minutes each), with many noticing significant improvement early. While especially effective for trauma, EMDR is also an excellent choice for processing other stressful events, patterns, and triggers.

Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE)

PE helps you confront and reduce the effects of trauma by gradually revisiting memories and situations you've been avoiding. In a safe, controlled environment, we'll work together to:

  • Identify the avoided memory and its associated emotions.

  • Gradually revisit the memory in a controlled way.

  • Face real-world triggers related to the memory.

  • Process and reduce emotional reactions as you confront the memory.

PE typically lasts 8 - 12 sessions (50 - 80 minutes each). As you progress, anxiety and avoidance behaviors decrease, with lasting benefits beyond treatment.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)

CPT helps you challenge and change distressing thoughts and beliefs caused by trauma. What makes CPT unique is that it includes the option to not discuss the trauma in detail, making it ideal if you find direct confrontation of the trauma difficult.

  • Challenge trauma-related thoughts fueling guilt and shame.
  • Reframe traumatic beliefs into balanced, realistic thoughts.
  • Confront and process trauma memories to reduce intensity.
  • Learn tools to manage distressing thoughts for resilience.

CPT typically involves 12-16 weekly sessions (50 - 80 minutes each). Many clients see meaningful improvements after just a few sessions, with lasting positive effects.

My Approach to PTSD Treatment

Every person’s experience with trauma is unique, which is why I take the time to understand your specific situation before recommending a treatment approach. During our first session, we’ll discuss:

  • Your specific symptoms and how they're affecting your life.
  • The treatment options that might work best for your situation.
  • Any questions or concerns you have about the process.
  • How we can work together to help you reclaim your life.

Many clients appreciate the balance of my professional expertise and genuine care. At Genovese Trauma & PTSD Recovery, I create a space where healing happens at your pace while using efficient, evidence-based methods to help you experience relief as quickly as possible.
