Rates & Coverage

Psychology Treatment Rates & Insurance Coverage

As of January 1, 2025, my standard rate is $235 for a 50-minute individual session.
The initial session is longer—80 minutes at $352.50—to allow time for a thorough intake and to begin exploring your goals for therapy in depth.

Any services I provide outside of the therapy hour, such as consultations with other professionals, report writing, letters, or form completion, are billed at one-fifth of the hourly rate for every 10 minutes. If a session extends beyond the scheduled 50 minutes, that additional time is also billed incrementally.

If you have questions about billing or would like more information about insurance or WCB coverage, please feel free to reach out.

Tax-Deductible Services

Psychological services are recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency as eligible medical expenses, which means they can be claimed as tax deductions. Make sure to keep your receipts—I provide them for every session—because they could help reduce your tax burden when filing your return. Many of my clients are surprised to learn that the cost of therapy can not only support their wellbeing but also offer a financial benefit at tax time.

Insurance Coverage & Direct Billing

At Genovese Trauma & PTSD Recovery, I understand that navigating insurance can feel overwhelming—so I do my best to make it easy. I partner with a wide variety of insurance providers to offer direct billing, so you can focus on your mental health instead of paperwork.

Here are just some of the insurance providers I work with:

  • Alberta Blue Cross
  • ASEBP Alberta School Employee Benefits Plan
  • Canada Life
  • Canadian Construction Workers Union
  • Chambers of Commerce Group Insurance
  • CINUP
  • Cowan
  • Desjardins
  • Equitable Life
  • First Canadian
  • GMS, GSC (Green Shield Canada)
  • Industrial Alliance
  • Johnston Group
  • TELUS AdjudiCare

This is a partial list—many providers are expanding their direct billing options for psychological services. If you don’t see your provider listed, feel free to contact me to see if direct billing is available.

I'm also an approved provider for:

  • Medavie Blue Cross
  • TELUS Health
  • providerConnect
  • Workers' Compensation Board (WCB)
  • Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC)
  • Canadian Armed Forces (CAF)
  • Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)
  • Edmonton Police Service (EPS)
  • Saskatchewan Blue Cross
  • Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB)

To make your first appointment as smooth as possible, I recommend checking with your insurance provider ahead of time to confirm your psychological coverage. Whether your plan is through your employer or purchased personally, it helps to know what’s covered.

If your plan doesn’t allow for direct billing, no problem—I'll provide a detailed receipt so you can submit it for reimbursement.

Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please let me know at least 2 business days in advance. Sessions cancelled with less than 2 business days’ notice will be charged the full session fee.

I understand that life happens, but when a session is missed or cancelled late, it’s time that could have been offered to someone else in need. This policy helps ensure that we both make the most of our time together and that I can continue to offer timely support to all clients.

Thank you for your understanding and consideration.

Payment Options

Payment is due at the end of each session. I accept e-transfer, credit card, and direct billing to your insurance provider (when available). Please note that credit card payments include a 3.5% administration fee. You’ll receive an electronic receipt after each session, which you can use for insurance reimbursement or tax purposes. If there’s ever a delay in receiving your receipt, just let me know—I’ll be happy to follow up and make sure you have what you need.

Looking Forward to Working Together

At Genovese Trauma & PTSD Recovery, I’m committed to supporting you through every step of your healing journey—and that includes making the financial side of therapy as clear and straightforward as possible.

If you have any questions about rates, payment options, or insurance coverage, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m here to help, and I want to ensure that nothing about the logistics stands in the way of your recovery.
